Linux Support
KSP2 Redux can run on Linux through Proton. This page focuses on launching and troubleshooting the game itself.
Recommended Setup
Section titled “Recommended Setup”- Add or launch Redux through Steam.
- Force a Proton compatibility setup for the game.
- If the game is unstable at startup, start with windowed launch options first.
Reported working Proton versions include:
GE-ProtonGE-Proton 10-27Proton ExperimentalProton 10
If one Proton version gives video or startup issues, try GE-Proton first.
Launch Options That Help
Section titled “Launch Options That Help”Some Linux users reported better stability when forcing windowed startup.

- If the game crashes immediately or opens to a black screen, test one of the options above before changing anything else.
Known Working Reports
Section titled “Known Working Reports”The following Linux environments were reported to work by community members:
- Arch Linux with Hyprland using GE-Proton
- Nobara using GE-Proton
- Bazzite / Fedora Atomic using Proton
- Linux Mint 22.3 using GE-Proton 10-27
- Pop!_OS 24 using Proton 10
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Startup Crashes
Section titled “Startup Crashes”Try these steps in order:
- Force
GE-Proton, for exampleGE-Proton 10-27. - Add
-popupwindowto launch options. - If that does not help, try
-window-mode exclusive -screen-fullscreen 0.
Videos or Intro Playback Issues
Section titled “Videos or Intro Playback Issues”Some Linux users reported that default Proton builds had trouble with videos, while GE-Proton worked correctly. If the game launches poorly or hangs early, switch Proton versions before deeper troubleshooting.
Reporting Linux Issues
Section titled “Reporting Linux Issues”When reporting a Linux-specific problem, include:
- your distro
- desktop environment or window manager
- kernel version
- GPU and driver version
- Proton version
- launch options used
